Skin is an organ; organs are made up of cells; and cells are made up of water. Without water, organs can’t function properly so it’s extremely important to drink water and stay hydrated. Here are some tips for keeping your skin hydrated and beautiful:
- Drink more water! Drinking at least eight 80z glasses helps cleans the body and skin and get rid of toxins. Many people report that by drinking more water, their skin has a more radiant glow. (Even those with acne report similar results!). Of course nothing happens overnight, but drinking lots of water consistently over a few of weeks should be enough time for you to see how hydration affects your own skin.
- Hyaluronic acid holds 1,000 times its own weight in water. It attracts water to the skin and holds it there. Apply a product containing hyaluronic acid prior to your moisturizer, and you’ll increase your skin hydration.
- Apply your moisturizer within 2 minutes of leaving the bath or shower. The warm water and steam from the shower opens pores so after leaving the shower, your skin is still porous allowing for better absorption.
